Sri Lanka Women secured a hard-fought four-wicket victory over Bangladesh Women in Match 10 of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 6. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, Sri Lanka restricted Bangladesh to 114 for eight in 20 overs before completing the chase at 115 for six in 19.2 overs.

The victory came with four balls remaining, underlining the competitive nature of the match. Harshitha Samarawickrama was the star performer for Sri Lanka and was named Player of the Match after scoring 48 runs from 37 balls.

    Bangladesh Post 114 for Eight

Bangladesh struggled to score freely against a disciplined Sri Lankan bowling attack. Sobhana Mostary provided the main resistance, scoring 34 from 41 balls with four boundaries.

Mostary held the innings together during the middle overs and helped Bangladesh move beyond the hundred-run mark. Dilara Akter also contributed 26 from 26 balls, providing valuable support during the innings.

However, Sri Lanka kept taking wickets at important stages and prevented Bangladesh from producing a strong finish. Chamudi Praboda was the leading wicket-taker, claiming three wickets for 21 runs from her four overs.

Sugandika Kumari also made an important contribution with the ball. She finished with two wickets for 22 runs from four overs and bowled a maiden, helping Sri Lanka maintain pressure on the Bangladesh batters.

    Harshitha Samarawickrama Anchors Chase

Sri Lanka’s chase did not go completely smoothly, but Harshitha Samarawickrama ensured that her team remained in the contest. She scored 48 from 37 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes.

Harshitha played a controlled yet attacking innings and kept the required run rate within reach. Her ability to find boundaries at crucial moments made the difference in a tense chase.

Bangladesh pacer Marufa Akter kept her team alive with an excellent spell. She picked up three wickets for 21 runs from four overs and created pressure by removing key Sri Lankan batters.

Despite Marufa’s efforts, Sri Lanka had enough batting depth to complete the chase.

Nilakshi Helps Sri Lanka Cross the Line

Nilakshi de Silva played an important supporting role during the latter stages of the innings. Her steady 18 runs helped Sri Lanka remain on course when wickets were falling.

With Bangladesh defending a modest total, Sri Lanka needed to remain calm during the final overs. The batters managed to do exactly that, reaching 115 for six in 19.2 overs.

The Sri Lanka Women vs Bangladesh Women highlights included Harshitha’s match-winning 48, Praboda’s three-wicket spell and Marufa’s impressive response with the ball.
