Surrey have secured the services of Australia A allrounder Maitlan Brown for the initial block of Metro Bank One-Day Cup fixtures scheduled across April and May. The 28-year-old is set to join the squad ahead of the season opener on April 11 and will be available for the team’s first eight matches.
Brown is yet to make her senior debut for Australia but remains a consistent presence in the Australia A setup and was recently included in the Test squad for the series against India. She also brings prior experience in English domestic cricket, having represented Southern Vipers in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy — now integrated into the One-Day Cup — as well as featuring for Southern Brave in the Hundred.
“I’m really looking forward to joining Surrey this summer,” Brown said. “I’ve had a great winter in Australia, and I’m excited to keep the momentum going with a great side in London. Surrey finished last season in an incredibly strong position. Their setup is clearly one of the best in the country, and I can’t wait to contribute and learn from it.”
Surrey Add Experience to Squad
Surrey’s director of women’s cricket, Emma Calvert, welcomed the signing and highlighted the value Brown will bring to the side.
“Maitlan will be a fantastic addition to the squad, both on and off the field. Her depth of experience across franchise and domestic cricket gives the team a strong knowledge base to draw from.
“Her composure with the ball will add real depth to our bowling attack and support our ambitions to build on last year’s success. We’re really looking forward to having her at the Kia Oval.”
Building on a Strong 2025 Campaign
Surrey head into the new season after an impressive 2025 campaign, where they reached the semi-finals of the Metro Bank Cup, lifted the inaugural women’s T20 Blast title, and finished as runners-up in the T20 County Cup.
