Scotland Women produced an outstanding all-round performance to defeat Netherlands Women by nine wickets in the second ODI at Stirling. In a rain-shortened contest reduced to 32 overs per side, the hosts comfortably chased down 130 with 94 balls to spare, taking complete control of the match.
Scotland Bowlers Put Netherlands Under Early Pressure
Scotland made the perfect start after choosing to field, with Darcey Carter striking twice inside the opening five overs. She removed Phebe Molkenboer for 8 and Sanya Khurana for 4, reducing the Netherlands to 13/2.
Ammy Baldie applied pressure from the opposite end with an economical six-over spell, while Maisie Maceira added another breakthrough to keep the visitors on the back foot.
Maqsood Dismantles the Middle Order
Captain Babette de Leede attempted to rebuild the innings with a determined knock, sharing a brief partnership with Merel Dekeling before Abtaha Maqsood changed the course of the innings.
Maqsood dismissed Dekeling for 12 before bowling Rosalie Ann Lawrence for a duck in the very next over. She also accounted for Iris Zwilling to finish with outstanding figures of 3/20 from seven overs, including a maiden.
Katherine Fraser also impressed, conceding just 29 runs in seven overs while removing Caroline de Lange, who battled for 20 from 50 deliveries.
The Lone Battle of Babette de Leede
Despite regular wickets falling around her, Babette de Leede held the innings together with a resilient 58 from 64 balls, striking four boundaries.
The Netherlands captain was eventually run out after carrying the responsibility for much of the innings. Late contributions from Lara Leemhuis and Silver Siegers helped push the visitors to 129/9, but the total never looked enough against a confident Scottish side.
Bryce and Carter Seal the Chase
Scotland lost Maryam Faisal early after she made a quick 8, with Myrthe van den Raad claiming the only Dutch wicket of the innings.
From there, Sarah Bryce and Darcey Carter completely dominated the chase with an unbroken 113-run partnership for the second wicket.
Bryce led from the front with an outstanding unbeaten 70 from just 59 balls, hitting 11 boundaries in a fluent captain’s innings. Carter played the perfect supporting role, finishing unbeaten on 33 from 37 deliveries with three fours.
Scotland Cruise to Victory
The Netherlands bowlers struggled to contain Scotland’s aggressive batting, while the hosts also benefited from 19 extras during the chase.
Scotland reached 130/1 in only 16.2 overs to complete an emphatic nine-wicket victory with more than 15 overs remaining.
The win highlighted Scotland’s strength in both departments, with disciplined bowling setting up the result before Bryce’s unbeaten half-century ensured a straightforward chase.
