Following an exceptional performance on the international stage, Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal has ascended once again to the number one position in the ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings. Her rise comes after a series of dominant displays against South Africa, allowing her to leapfrog top-tier competitors like Australia’s Annabel Sutherland and India’s Deepti Sharma.

The latest rankings update reflects a high-octane week of cricket, highlighted by South Africa’s narrow series win over Pakistan and India’s rain-affected triumph against Australia in Sydney. These matches provided a platform for subcontinental bowlers to showcase their skill, resulting in significant shifts across the leaderboard.

Major Moves in the T20I Rankings

    • Bowling Supremacy: Sadia Iqbal’s five-wicket haul against South Africa, including a decisive 3/18 in the final match, propelled her two spots up to the summit. Meanwhile, India’s Renuka Singh broke into the top five, and Arundhati Reddy made a massive 19-place jump to 16th.
    • Batting Breakthroughs: South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt moved to fourth after a consistent series, while Pakistan captain Fatima Sana surged 31 places to 28th after leading the series run charts with 146 runs.
    • All-Rounder Impact: Fatima Sana’s dual-threat capability also saw her climb to sixth in the all-rounder rankings, while India’s Arundhati Reddy moved up 12 spots to 31st.

The shuffle wasn’t limited to the top ten. New Zealand’s new captain Amelia Kerr moved up to 11th in the bowling department, and veteran Suzie Bates climbed to 8th in the batting rankings. Additionally, young Australian talent Phoebe Litchfield and South Africa’s Annerie Dercksen saw notable improvements in their standings following impactful cameos in their respective series.

As the international calendar intensifies, the battle for the top spots remains fluid. Iqbal’s return to the number one position marks her third time reaching the peak since 2024, cementing her status as one of the most consistent and formidable left-arm spinners in the modern game.
