Hayley Matthews struck her second century of the series as West Indies defeated Zimbabwe by 91 runs in the third ODI to seal the three-match series 2-1.
West Indies posted 271/5 after being asked to bat, with Matthews scoring 118 and Shemaine Campbelle adding 96. Zimbabwe were then bowled out for 180 despite an unbeaten 74 from captain Josephine Nkomo.
Matthews and Campbelle Build Match-Winning Stand
West Indies started cautiously, reaching 38 after 10 overs, with Matthews contributing 34 of those runs. After Realeanna Grimmond was dismissed for 3, Matthews and Campbelle took control with a 160-run partnership for the second wicket.
Matthews reached her half-century from 55 balls before accelerating to her hundred in 98 deliveries. She eventually fell for 118 off 113 balls in the 39th over.
Campbelle followed with a patient but important 96, reaching fifty in 70 balls before increasing the tempo later in her innings.
Late contributions from Jannillea Glasgow and Jahzara Claxton helped West Indies finish on 271/5.
Zimbabwe Struggle in the Chase
Zimbabwe’s reply never gained momentum after both openers were dismissed inside the first 14 balls.
Captain Josephine Nkomo provided the only sustained resistance, scoring an unbeaten 74, but she received little support from the rest of the batting order.
West Indies shared the wickets around, with Ashmini Munisar, Jannillea Glasgow and Aaliyah Alleyne taking two wickets each.
Zimbabwe were eventually dismissed for 180, handing West Indies a comfortable 91-run victory.
Campbelle Injury a Concern
Despite the series win, West Indies were left with a fitness concern after Campbelle went down in the eighth over of Zimbabwe’s chase and had to be stretchered from the field.
With Matthews set to miss the upcoming T20I series for personal reasons, Campbelle had been a possible captaincy option, making her fitness situation especially important ahead of the next leg of the tour.
