Marizanne Kapp became the fourth bowler to reach 50 wickets in the Women’s Hundred after producing an outstanding spell for London Spirit against Trent Rockets at Trent Bridge on July 26, 2026.

The experienced South African entered the match needing two wickets to reach the landmark but went one better, finishing with remarkable figures of 3 for 12 from her 20 deliveries.

Kapp dismissed Sophia Dunkley for 23, Beth Mooney for a first-ball duck and Sophie Luff for 24 to take her overall tournament tally to 51 wickets.

She joins Lauren Bell, Amanda-Jade Wellington and Kate Cross in the exclusive group of bowlers to have claimed at least 50 wickets in the competition.

    Kapp Delivers Another Clinical Spell

Kapp’s figures highlighted the control and accuracy that have made her one of the most reliable bowlers in the tournament’s history. Of her 20 deliveries, 14 were dot balls as she repeatedly disrupted Trent Rockets’ momentum through changes of pace, cutters and well-directed short deliveries.

The wickets of Dunkley and Luff were particularly important, with both batters capable of accelerating quickly during the middle phase of the innings.

Removing Mooney without scoring provided another major breakthrough and demonstrated Kapp’s ability to strike against the competition’s leading batters.

Consistent Performer Since the First Season

Kapp has been a central figure in the Women’s Hundred since the tournament began in 2021. She made her debut for Oval Invincibles, now known as MI London, against Manchester Originals at The Oval on July 21, 2021.

The all-rounder represented the franchise during the competition’s first five editions before moving to London Spirit ahead of the 2026 season.

Despite changing teams, Kapp has continued to perform the same important role, operating with the new ball, controlling the scoring rate and providing valuable experience in pressure situations.

Outstanding Career Record in the Hundred

Across 35 innings in the competition, Kapp has taken 51 wickets at an exceptional average of 12.74 and an economy rate of 6.06. Her record includes three four-wicket hauls and a career-best spell of 4 for 9 from 18 deliveries.

That performance came against Southern Brave in the inaugural final on August 21, 2021.

Kapp was named Player of the Match as Oval Invincibles won the title, establishing her reputation as one of the competition’s most dependable performers on the biggest stage.

She is now the third-highest wicket-taker in Women’s Hundred history.

    Strong Start to 2026 Season

Kapp has also begun the 2026 campaign in excellent form. After two appearances, she leads London Spirit’s wicket-taking charts with five dismissals at an average of six and an economy rate of 4.50.

Her performances have provided an important boost for a Spirit side sitting sixth in the standings with four points from one victory and one defeat.

Kapp’s ability to combine early wickets with tight bowling makes her a vital part of the team as it attempts to build momentum during the tournament.

    Landmark Reflects Kapp’s Lasting Impact

Reaching 50 wickets underlines Kapp’s longevity, adaptability and consistency in the Hundred’s unique 100-ball format.

From her match-winning display in the inaugural final to her continued success with London Spirit, she has repeatedly influenced matches with disciplined and decisive spells.

Her place alongside Bell, Wellington and Cross in the 50-wicket club confirms her status among the finest bowlers in the competition’s history.

With Kapp already in impressive form this season, she remains one of London Spirit’s most important players and a major threat to opposition batting line-ups.
