Georgia Voll Reflects on Taking Over From Alyssa Healy

Replacing one of the greatest players in Australian women’s cricket is never an easy task. However, 23-year-old Georgia Voll has made a strong start after taking over the opening role following Alyssa Healy’s international retirement.

Voll has formed an exciting opening partnership with Beth Mooney and has also climbed to the number one spot in the ICC Women’s T20I batting rankings. Speaking during Australia’s 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign in the United Kingdom, she reflected on the challenge of Georgia Voll replacing Alyssa Healy and the lessons learnt from the legendary wicketkeeper-batter.

Learning From Alyssa Healy Before Her Retirement

Voll said her time around the Australian team before becoming a regular player made the transition much easier. During the 2024 and 2025 seasons, she often joined the squad as an injury replacement and also spent time with the team during the 2025 ODI World Cup.

Those experiences allowed her to learn from Healy and other senior players before stepping into the full-time role.

“Just being backed right from the start, knowing my role within this team. I was in a little bit, out a little bit with Midge still going about her business and just being able to learn off her and the other senior players in the group. Being able to train in different conditions even though I wasn’t playing, just getting ready for that opportunity. That’s probably helped me go out there when I get that opportunity and back myself,” Voll said.

The learning period has played a big part in the success of Georgia Voll replacing Alyssa Healy at the top of the order.

    Creating Her Own Style

Many cricket fans have compared Voll’s aggressive batting to Healy’s exciting style. While she appreciates the comparison, Voll said she wants to build her own identity instead of copying anyone.

She explained that Australia’s deep batting line-up gives her the freedom to attack from the first ball.

“With the depth of our team, I get that license to go out there and see the ball and hit the ball. To be told you play like her is pretty cool, but I think I just want to make sure that I’m going about it how I want to go about it.”

Veteran all-rounder Ellyse Perry also praised Voll, saying she has great power, confidence, and belief in her own ability.

Australia Ready for Life After Healy

The Australia Women future after Healy is looking bright. Following Healy’s retirement, Sophie Molineux became the new captain, while Beth Mooney took over as the team’s main wicketkeeper.

Voll also showed her flexibility during a World Cup match against the Netherlands. When Mooney suffered back spasms during the game, Voll wore the wicketkeeping gloves for the first time since she was 13 years old and even took a catch within a few overs.

A Bright Future for Australian Cricket

The story of Georgia Voll replacing Alyssa Healy is already becoming one of the biggest success stories in women’s cricket. Supported by experienced stars like Ellyse Perry and talented young players such as Phoebe Litchfield and Annabel Sutherland, Australia continues to build a strong team for the future.

The Australia Women future after Healy appears to be in safe hands. Voll has shown that while Alyssa Healy’s legacy is impossible to replace, she is ready to create a successful journey of her own and help Australia remain one of the strongest teams in world cricket.
