Australia’s record-breaking triumph at the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup was not only about lifting another trophy but also about the emergence of a new generation of stars. Following Australia’s unbeaten campaign, veteran all-rounder Ellyse Perry praised the young players who stepped up on the biggest stage and also acknowledged captain Sophie Molineux for her inspiring leadership.

In the latest Ellyse Perry interview, the Australian great reflected on the team’s remarkable journey as they defeated England by seven wickets in the final at Lord’s to claim a record-extending seventh Women’s T20 World Cup title.

Ellyse Perry Praises Australia’s Rising Stars

Ellyse Perry latest news focus on her admiration for Australia’s young cricketers who played crucial roles throughout the tournament.

Perry reserved special praise for Phoebe Litchfield, who overcame a quad injury during the competition before producing one of the finest innings of the tournament in the final. Chasing victory against England, Litchfield scored a brilliant 48 off 32 balls, helping Australia comfortably reach the target.

The Ellyse Perry interview described Litchfield’s performance as a “phenomenal innings that only she’s capable of,” highlighting the youngster’s confidence and ability to deliver under pressure.

Perry also applauded Georgia Voll, who enjoyed an impressive first major ICC tournament. Voll adapted quickly to international cricket across all formats and scored 130 runs during the World Cup at a strike rate of 141.30.

Reflecting on Australia’s exciting young talent, Perry said the squad is filled with players capable of achieving great success in the years ahead. She added that watching their development has been one of the most exciting parts of the tournament.

A Seventh World Cup That Felt Extra Special

The latest Ellyse Perry interview also revealed how much this title meant to one of Australia’s most prominent cricketers.

Perry has featured in every Women’s T20 World Cup since the inaugural edition in 2009, making this her seventh title. Despite her long list of achievements, she admitted this victory felt particularly memorable.

According to Perry, Australia’s success was built on maintaining high standards throughout the competition. She praised the team’s consistent execution in every match and said lifting the trophy after an unbeaten campaign made the achievement even more satisfying.

Winning the final at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground, against traditional rivals England in front of a packed crowd, made the occasion even more unforgettable for the veteran all-rounder.

    Tribute to Captain Sophie Molineux

Another major talking point in the Ellyse Perry latest news was her praise for captain Sophie Molineux, who guided Australia to the World Cup title in her first ICC tournament as skipper.

Perry highlighted Molineux’s determination to return from multiple injury setbacks and described her leadership as one of the biggest reasons behind Australia’s success.

She praised the captain’s tactical awareness and her ability to build a united dressing room where every player felt valued. According to Perry, those qualities helped create a positive team environment throughout the tournament.

    Australia’s Bright Future

Australia’s unbeaten campaign once again underlined why they remain the dominant force in women’s cricket. While experienced players like Ellyse Perry continued to provide stability, the tournament also showcased the exciting future of Australian cricket through players such as Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Voll.

The latest Ellyse Perry interview highlighted that Australia’s success is not only built on experienced stars but also on a talented next generation ready to carry the team forward. With strong leadership from Sophie Molineux and a squad full of emerging talent, Australia’s future looks just as bright as its celebrated past.
