Thailand U19 Women delivered a controlled and clinical performance to defeat Hong Kong, China U19 Women in the U-19 Women’s T20 Challenge 2026, combining disciplined bowling with a composed run chase to secure victory comfortably.
Hong Kong struggle for momentum
Hong Kong found it difficult to build partnerships after early setbacks. Tejasvi Rajaram managed just 2 off 12 balls before falling at 1/13 in 3.6 overs, while captain Poon Hoi Lam attempted to steady the innings with 14 from 19 deliveries, including two boundaries, before being dismissed at 2/19 in 5.4 overs.
Fatima Amir provided some resistance, top-scoring with 22 off 32 balls, alongside Emily Dickinson, who made 6 off 12. However, the innings lacked continuity as wickets fell regularly, with Janice Wong (1), So Wan Tung (6) and Nimbra Arab (2) unable to push on.
Lower-order contributions were limited, with Storm Parker adding 7 off 10, while Arna Senthivel (1) and Akeisha Sahni (1) fell quickly. Hong Kong were eventually bowled out for 71 in 19.3 overs, with 9 runs coming via extras.
Thailand’s bowlers set the tone
Thailand’s bowling attack maintained tight control throughout. Kewarin Saechao led the effort with figures of 3 for 9 from four overs, dismantling the top order. Koranit Suwanchonrathi supported well with 2 for 20 in three overs, while Pattamawadee Suriya was highly economical, returning 1 for 3 from 2.3 overs. Patcharaporn Sorntha also contributed with a wicket.
Seesawan leads composed chase
In pursuit of 72, Thailand started cautiously but soon settled into a steady rhythm. Kanlaya Khongpanapralson was dismissed early for 2 at 1/3 in 1.6 overs, leaving Kunanya Inwin to anchor the innings with 16 from 23 balls alongside Phichamon Darajaroen.
After Inwin’s dismissal at 2/32 in 6.2 overs, the match tilted decisively in Thailand’s favour. Phichamon remained unbeaten on 19 off 21 balls, while Thanrada Seesawan produced the standout performance with a fluent 29 not out from 16 deliveries, striking six boundaries at a strike rate of 181.25.
The pair added an unbroken partnership to guide Thailand to 73/2 in 11.1 overs, completing the chase with eight wickets in hand.
Hong Kong bowlers unable to apply pressure
Hong Kong’s bowling unit struggled to contain the scoring. Arna Senthivel and Akeisha Sahni picked up one wicket each, but the rest of the attack failed to create sustained pressure. Storm Parker (0/6 in 2 overs), Fatima Amir (0/3 in 2 overs) and Tejasvi Rajaram (0/12 in 1 over) were unable to slow the chase.
