West Indies Women are set to begin their T20I bilateral series against Australia Women at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingston. The hosts head into the contest after a 2-1 series defeat against Sri Lanka Women, and captain Hayley Matthews will be aiming for a strong response as her side looks to reassert itself in the shortest format. Ahead of the opening match, three players stand out as key figures for the Caribbean team.

    Qiana Joseph

All-rounder Qiana Joseph has been a dependable performer for West Indies in recent outings, particularly with her economical bowling. Across her T20I career, she has accumulated 404 runs in 23 innings at a strike rate of 118, while also taking six wickets from 13 bowling innings with an economy rate of 5. Although she struggled for runs in the recent series against Sri Lanka Women, she delivered an effective spell in the second match, claiming 2 wickets for just 13 runs. Joseph will be keen to make an impact with both bat and ball in the upcoming fixture.

    Chinelle Henry

Chinelle Henry brings power-hitting ability and strong fielding skills to the West Indies setup. She has scored 563 runs in 59 T20I innings at a strike rate of 94 and has also taken 22 wickets from 47 bowling innings with an economy rate of 6. In the Sri Lanka series, she was unable to contribute significantly with the ball but produced a brisk 32 off 15 deliveries in the final game. Henry will look to carry that confidence into the clash against Australia while also aiming to play a supporting role with the ball.

    Afy Fletcher

Spinner Afy Fletcher has been one of West Indies’ most consistent performers in white-ball cricket. She has taken 99 wickets in 98 T20I innings at an economy rate of 6. During the recent series against Sri Lanka Women, Fletcher was the most successful bowler for her side, claiming three wickets and maintaining control over the scoring rate. Her experience and ability to apply pressure make her a crucial player heading into the series opener.
