Australia all-rounder Ellyse Perry achieved a historic milestone during the one-off Test against India Women at the WACA Ground in Perth, becoming the leading run-scorer for Australia Women in Test cricket.

Entering the match with 930 runs in the format, Perry began the game ranked third on Australia Women’s all-time Test run list. Her innings on March 7 allowed her to surpass that mark and set a new national record.

    Perry Crosses 1000 Test Runs

Batting at No. 3 in Australia’s innings, Perry played a composed knock of 76 from 116 balls, striking 10 fours and a six. She looked in control throughout the innings before being dismissed by Deepti Sharma.

During that innings, Perry crossed the 1000-run milestone in Test cricket. Her total reached 1005 runs, taking her past Karen Rolton’s previous record of 1002 runs for Australia Women.

Most Test runs for Australia Women

    • Ellyse Perry – 1005 runs
    • Karen Rolton – 1002 runs
    • Belinda Clark – 919 runs
    • Betty Wilson – 862 runs
    • Denise Annetts – 819 runs

Perry achieved the milestone in 15 Tests (24 innings).

She now sits among the top 10 run-scorers in women’s Test cricket, and her batting average of 62 is the highest among the players in that group. The overall record for most runs in women’s Test cricket remains with England’s Jan Brittin, who scored 1,935 runs.

    Perry’s Unique All-Round Milestone

Alongside her batting achievements, Perry also strengthened her record as one of the leading all-rounders in the women’s game.

She now has more than 1000 Test runs and 39 wickets, making her the only woman in Test cricket history with 1,000+ runs and 30+ wickets in the format.

Perry reached the milestone while managing a quad strain. Because of the injury, she has been playing as a specialist batter and has not bowled in the Test.

Australia Take Control Through Perry-Sutherland Partnership

Earlier in the match, India were bowled out for 198 in their first innings, with Jemimah Rodrigues scoring a half-century. Shafali Verma contributed 35 while Kashvee Gautam added 34 runs.

Australia initially lost both openers, Georgia Voll and Phoebe Litchfield, but recovered strongly through a partnership between Perry and Annabel Sutherland. The pair added 128 runs, putting Australia in a strong position.

Perry’s innings ended at 76, while Sutherland continued towards a century as Australia moved ahead of India’s total by Tea on Day 2.

For India, Sayali Satghare took two wickets while Deepti Sharma also claimed one.
