The fourth season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) wrapped up earlier this week, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru securing a second title in Vadodara. In a gripping final, RCB Women successfully chased a huge target of 204 to beat Delhi Capitals, extending Delhi’s run of finishing runners-up in the WPL to four straight seasons.
This edition stood out for the impact made by Indian domestic talent, with several players stepping up and delivering telling contributions. The likes of Gautami Naik, Kanika Ahuja and Niki Prasad offered flashes of their ability across a handful of matches, producing key innings when their teams needed them.

Nandni Sharma – Delhi Capitals
Among India’s most significant takeaways from the tournament was fast bowler Nandni Sharma. She claimed 17 wickets in 10 matches to end the season as the joint leading wicket-taker.
Sharma also created a landmark moment against Gujarat, becoming the first Indian pacer to register a five-wicket haul versus the side. Her figures of 5 for 33 included a decisive hat-trick in the final over, underlining her ability to close out an innings with control and pace.
Anushka Sharma – Gujarat Giants
Gujarat Giants found a reliable middle-order option in Anushka Sharma, who enjoyed an excellent campaign with the bat. She finished as Gujarat’s highest-scoring Indian player, collecting 177 runs from seven appearances.
Operating as a stabilising presence in the lineup, she regularly played the anchor role while others attacked around her. At the same time, she showed she could shift gears when required, bringing an aggressive edge whenever the match situation demanded it.
Sayali Satghare – Royal Challengers Bangalore
Sayali Satghare joined the squad as a replacement for Elysse Perry and quickly made her mark with sharp pace bowling, particularly during the powerplay. Across six matches, she took nine wickets and offered RCB an early-overs option with consistent threat.
Her season began in standout fashion, producing two successive three-wicket hauls. Those spells disrupted the top orders of both Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants, helping keep the opposition to modest totals.
Bharti Fulmali – Gujarat Giants
Bharti Fulmali has featured for Gujarat over the past three seasons and has repeatedly drawn attention for her explosive hitting at the death. While the final phase of this season did not go as well for her, she has still earned a place in the national team after a six-year wait.
