USA Women secured a 20-run win over Uganda Women in a shortened five-over contest in the Women’s Easter T20 Cup, with a composed batting recovery and disciplined bowling proving decisive. The match saw early momentum shifts before USA took firm control through key partnerships and tight execution with the ball.

USA’s innings began aggressively but suffered an immediate setback when Ritu Priya Singh was dismissed for 0 off 1 ball, caught and bowled by Asumin Akurut, leaving the side at 1/1 in just 0.3 overs. The early breakthrough slowed their progress, but Sainavi Kambalapalli anchored the innings with a steady unbeaten 14 off 14 balls, providing much-needed stability.

A crucial phase followed as Isani Mahesh Vaghela joined Kambalapalli to rebuild. Vaghela added a quick 7 off 6 balls, including a boundary, before falling at 14/2 in 2.1 overs, caught by Phiona Egaru off Lorna Anyait. Uganda briefly regained momentum with that wicket, but USA responded strongly in the latter stages.

Chetna Reddy Pagydyala partnered Kambalapalli in a decisive unbeaten stand that lifted the scoring rate. Pagydyala struck 12 not out from 9 deliveries at a strike rate of 133.33, as the pair added vital runs in the closing overs. USA finished on 36/2 in their five overs, with 3 runs coming via extras, setting Uganda a target of 37.

    Uganda Bowlers Show Discipline

Uganda’s bowlers delivered controlled spells in phases. Asumin Akurut stood out with figures of 1 for 17 from two overs, while Lorna Anyait impressed with 1 for 5 in a single over. Tino Sarah and Ariago Michelle also kept things tight, conceding 8 and 6 runs respectively, though wickets at key moments proved elusive.

    Uganda Struggle in Chase

Chasing 37, Uganda Women found it difficult to keep pace with the required rate. Jimia Abdallah Muhammed remained unbeaten on 9 off 15 balls, but the innings lacked momentum. Opening partner Lorna Anyait scored 3 off 9 balls before being run out at 10/1 in 3.1 overs.

Wickets fell in quick succession thereafter, increasing the pressure. Mary Namiro was dismissed for 0 off 3 balls at 10/2 in 3.4 overs, leaving Uganda with too much to do in the remaining deliveries. Immaculate Nandera added 2 not out off 3 balls, but the absence of boundaries and mounting dot-ball pressure restricted the chase. Uganda ended on 16/2 in 5 overs, falling short by 20 runs.

    Chudasama Leads Bowling Effort

USA’s bowlers executed their plans with precision. Aditi Indrajitsinh Chudasama delivered a standout spell, taking 2 wickets for just 4 runs in her two overs, including nine dot balls. Maahi Madhavan was equally economical, conceding only 2 runs in her over, while Ritu Priya Singh and Suhani Thadani supported well, each giving away 5 runs.

    Key Highlights

    • USA posted 36/2 and defended it successfully
    • Sainavi Kambalapalli top-scored with 14*
    • Chetna Reddy Pagydyala added 12* in a key stand
    • Aditi Chudasama starred with 2/4
    • Uganda managed 16/2 in response

USA’s ability to recover from an early setback, build partnerships, and apply consistent pressure with the ball proved decisive in the short-format contest. The result marked a confident start to their Women’s Easter T20 Cup campaign.
