Trent Rockets Women produced another clinical performance in The Hundred Women’s competition 2026, defeating Welsh Fire Women by eight wickets at Sophia Gardens. Chasing a target of 130, the Rockets completed the task with 17 balls remaining, thanks to a brilliant innings from Australian opener Beth Mooney and a composed finish from captain Nat Sciver-Brunt.

The victory strengthened Trent Rockets’ position near the top of the standings, while the Welsh Fire Women result added to the home side’s disappointment after they failed to defend a competitive total.

Welsh Fire Women Post 129 for 3

After being asked to bat, Welsh Fire Women finished on 129 for 3 from their 100 balls. Although they managed to avoid a batting collapse, they struggled to accelerate enough to post a challenging total.

Georgia Voll made 18 from 15 balls, while the middle order helped guide the team to a respectable score. However, the innings lacked the explosive finish needed to trouble one of the strongest batting line ups in the competition.

For Trent Rockets Women, Em Arlott and Heather Graham bowled disciplined spells to keep the scoring under control. Arlott claimed one wicket for 22 runs, while Graham also picked up a wicket and conceded just 24 runs.

    Beth Mooney Dominates the Chase

The biggest moment among the Welsh Fire Women vs Trent Rockets Women highlights came from Beth Mooney’s outstanding batting display.

The experienced Australian opener attacked from the very first over, putting the Welsh Fire bowlers under immediate pressure. She reached her half century in only 27 balls before eventually scoring 57 from 35 deliveries.

Mooney’s innings included eight boundaries and one six, giving Trent Rockets complete control of the chase. Her aggressive approach ensured the required run rate never became an issue.

Strong Opening Partnership Sets the Tone

Mooney received good support from Sophie Dunkley, who scored 15 from 17 balls. Together, they added an excellent 73 runs for the opening wicket.

By the time Dunkley was dismissed by Heather Graham, Trent Rockets needed only 57 runs from the remaining 60 balls. That partnership removed almost all pressure from the middle order and allowed the visitors to approach the rest of the chase calmly.

These partnerships were among the standout Women’s Hundred highlights from the match.

    Sciver-Brunt Finishes in Style

After Mooney was dismissed, captain Nat Sciver-Brunt made sure there would be no late drama. The England all rounder remained unbeaten on 37 from just 23 balls, striking at an impressive rate throughout her innings.

Ashleigh Gardner also stayed not out on 10 as the pair guided Trent Rockets to 132 for 2 in only 83 balls.

For Welsh Fire, Heather Graham and Lucy Higham managed one wicket each, but the target proved too small against a confident Rockets batting unit.

    Trent Rockets Women Scorecard

The Trent Rockets Women scorecard reflected the visitors’ dominance throughout the chase.

Welsh Fire Women: 129/3 (100 balls)
    Georgia Voll 18 (15)
Em Arlott 1/22, Heather Graham 1/24

Trent Rockets Women: 132/2 (83 balls)
    Beth Mooney 57 (35), Nat Sciver-Brunt 37* (23), Sophie Dunkley 15 (17)
Heather Graham 1/24, Lucy Higham 1/28

A Complete Performance from Trent Rockets

The Welsh Fire Women result highlighted the difference between the two teams on the day. Beth Mooney’s explosive start, the strong opening partnership, and Nat Sciver-Brunt’s calm finish combined to produce one of the most convincing chases of the tournament.

The Welsh Fire Women vs Trent Rockets Women highlights showcased why Trent Rockets remain among the favourites in The Hundred Women’s competition 2026, while Welsh Fire will need stronger performances with both bat and ball as the competition continues.
