Bangladesh Women delivered an impressive all-round performance to defeat Scotland Women by 34 runs in the fourth match of the Scotland Women’s T20I Tri-Series in Edinburgh.
After being asked to bat, Bangladesh recovered from early setbacks through a crucial middle-order partnership before their bowlers produced a disciplined display to seal a convincing victory.
Nigar Sultana Anchors the Innings
Bangladesh made a quick start with Dilara Akter scoring 15 off 10 balls, but early wickets left them under pressure at 23/3.
At that stage, captain Nigar Sultana and Sobhana Mostary turned the game around with a brilliant 77-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Nigar played a composed innings of 58 from 47 balls, hitting six boundaries and a six, while Sobhana contributed 39 from 31 deliveries. Their stand lifted Bangladesh to a strong position after a shaky start.
Strong Finish Takes Bangladesh to 152
Bangladesh continued to build momentum in the death overs with another useful partnership between Nigar Sultana and Shorna Akter, who added 45 runs for the fifth wicket.
Shorna scored 20 from 23 balls, while late contributions from Ritu Moni and extras helped Bangladesh post a competitive total of 152/6 in 20 overs.
Scotland Collapse Under Pressure
Scotland’s chase got off to a disastrous start as they lost two early wickets and struggled to recover.
Captain Kathryn Bryce briefly counterattacked with 21 off 14 balls, and Sarah Bryce fought hard with a top score of 40, but Scotland failed to build consistent partnerships.
Ritu Moni Stars with the Ball
Bangladesh’s bowlers maintained constant pressure throughout the innings. Ritu Moni delivered a match-winning spell, picking up 4 wickets for just 12 runs, dismantling the middle and lower order.
She was well supported by Marufa Akter and Sanjida Akter Meghla, who both claimed two wickets each, as Scotland were bowled out for 118 in 19 overs.
