Brazil Women delivered a comprehensive all-round performance to defeat Malawi Women by 136 runs in the fifth match of the Kalahari Women’s T20I Tournament 2026 in Gaborone.

Opting to bat first, Brazil made a strong start through their opening pair. Lindsay Boas set the tone with an aggressive 36 off 22 balls, striking six boundaries, while Evelyn Muller contributed 13 off 15 deliveries. The duo added 62 runs in 4.5 overs before Boas was dismissed by Praise Maziya. Muller followed soon after at 70/2 in 6.5 overs, also falling to Maziya.

Cardoso Anchors as Brazil Build Competitive Total

Following the early breakthroughs, Brazil’s middle order ensured stability. Laura Cardoso played a key role, scoring 48 off 30 balls with four fours and two sixes. She shared a 72-run partnership with Roberta Avery, who remained unbeaten on 27 off 39 deliveries.

Cardoso was dismissed at 142 in the 15.5th over, but Ana Sabino added late momentum with 17 off 15 balls. Brazil eventually posted 167/4 in 20 overs, with 26 extras further strengthening the total.

For Malawi, Praise Maziya was the standout bowler with figures of 2/24, while Sugeni Kananji and Christina Bwanali picked up a wicket each. However, the rest of the attack struggled to contain the scoring.

    Brazil Bowlers Dominate the Chase

Chasing 168, Malawi Women struggled from the outset. Sophina Chinawa was run out for 0, while Euless Chirallile managed just 1 before being dismissed by Boas, leaving the side at 12/2 in 3.3 overs.

Sugeni Kananji offered brief resistance with 15 off 15 balls, but wickets continued to fall regularly. Monica Ndipo, Allinafe Alfonso, and Caroleen Mangulama were unable to build on their starts as Malawi slipped to 28/7 by the 9.1 over mark.

Run-outs further added to their difficulties, and despite efforts from Christina Bwanali and Lucy Malino, the innings never recovered. Malawi were eventually bowled out for 31 in 12.1 overs.

    Monteiro Headlines Clinical Bowling Effort

Nicole Monteiro led Brazil’s bowling attack with an outstanding spell of 3/5 in 2 overs, earning the Player of the Match award. Laura Cardoso, Lindsay Boas, and Carolina Nascimento each claimed a wicket, while Lara Moisés also impressed with 1/5 in 3 overs.

The victory highlighted Brazil Women’s strength across departments, combining aggressive batting, controlled partnerships, disciplined bowling, and sharp fielding in a dominant display.
