England have unveiled a 15-player squad for the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2027, with the team set to fine-tune its preparations through a five-match T20 series in India ahead of the global tournament in Nepal and Bangladesh.
Five additional players have also been named as non-travelling reserves and will remain involved in England’s winter development programme.
India tour to provide key World Cup preparation
England will travel to India for a five-match T20 series from November 26 to December 6, 2026. The opening two matches will be played in Baroda before the final three fixtures move to Surat.
Following the series, the squad will remain in India for an additional week to continue outdoor training and gain valuable match experience in conditions similar to those expected during the World Cup.
Preparations will begin with training camps in the United Kingdom before the team departs for India.
England squad
Squad: Maria Andrews, Amelie Bishop, Phoebe Brett, Eliza Bristowe, Flora Davies, Holly Garton, Bryony Gillgrass, Genevieve Jeer, Amelia Oliver, Shristi Patil, Prarthana Reddy, Faith Teekasingh, Clara Thacker, Skye Thomas and Venus Weerappuli.
Phoebe Brett, aged 18, is the only returning player from England’s squad that competed in the 2025 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Maria Andrews, who previously travelled as a non-travelling reserve during preparations for the 2025 tournament, has now earned selection in the main squad.
Non-travelling reserves: Ava Clive, Ivreen Dhaliwal, Libby Fellows, Lucy Randle-Bissell and Isobel Thorndike.
England have yet to announce the captain for the tournament.
Tough opening assignment
England will begin their India tour against the hosts on November 26 before completing the five-match series on December 6.
The experience is expected to play a significant role in preparing the squad for the third edition of the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled for early 2027 in Nepal and Bangladesh.
Building on previous campaigns
England reached the final of the inaugural ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2023 before losing to India by seven wickets in Potchefstroom.
They followed that performance by reaching the semi-finals of the 2025 tournament in Malaysia, where India again ended their campaign.
England’s previous results:
- 2023: Runners-up (lost to India in the final)
- 2025: Semi-finalists (lost to India in the semi-final)
Chris Guest confident of strong preparation
Head coach Chris Guest believes England’s latest preparation plan will leave the squad better equipped than in previous editions.
“This is an exciting opportunity for this group of players who will be the best prepared squad we will have sent to the U19 Women’s World Cup.
“The aspiration as always is to win the U19 World Cup. Taking on board learnings from previous campaigns, we have gone about things slightly differently this time, ensuring that our players are getting some game time outdoors much closer to the tournament.”
England hope the extended stay in India, combined with competitive match practice and outdoor training, will provide ideal preparation as they chase their first ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup title.
