Bangladesh have announced a 16-member squad for their upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, with Nigar Sultana Joty set to captain the side and spinner Nahida Akter appointed as vice-captain.

The squad remains largely unchanged from the group that represented Bangladesh at the Women’s Asia Cup and the 2026 Asian Games. The tour will provide Bangladesh with a valuable opportunity to test themselves in challenging Australian conditions as they continue their ICC Women’s Championship campaign.

    Joty to Lead Experienced Core

Nigar Sultana Joty retains the captaincy, with Nahida Akter serving as her deputy. Fast bowler Marufa Akter will spearhead the pace attack, while teenage seamer Habiba Islam Pinky has also earned a place among the pace options.

The squad combines experienced campaigners with several younger players who have featured prominently in Bangladesh’s recent international assignments.

Farzana, Murshida Return; Two Youngsters Earn Selection

Experienced batter Farzana Haque returns to Bangladesh’s ODI setup, while opener Murshida Khatun is back in the national squad after her last ODI appearance in January 2025.

Bangladesh have also included two promising young players. Former Bangladesh Under-19 captain Disha Biswas receives her maiden senior call-up, while 17-year-old Habiba Islam Pinky continues her progression after making her T20I debut against India in 2024.

Sanjida Akter Meghla and Dilara Akter also return to the ODI squad. Meghla has already represented Bangladesh twice in the format, while Dilara’s most recent ODI appearance came during the Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan in April 2025.

    Players Missing Out

Several players who featured in recent squads are absent from the Australia tour.

Experienced spinner Fahima Khatun and top-order batter Juairiya Ferdous have not been selected, while Bangladesh have also opted against including all-rounder Shorna Akter for the series.

The selectors have instead placed their faith in a balanced squad featuring experienced internationals alongside emerging talent.

    Bangladesh Squad for Australia ODIs

Bangladesh squad: Nigar Sultana Joty (captain), Nahida Akter (vice-captain), Marufa Akter, Rabeya Khan, Ritu Moni, Sobhana Mostary, Sarmin Sultana, Sharmin Akter Supta, Sanjida Akter Meghla, Sultana Khatun, Dilara Akter, Farzana Haque, Murshida Khatun, Disha Biswas, Habiba Islam Pinky, Shorna Akter.

    Important ICC Women’s Championship Series

All three matches will be played at Allan Border Field in Brisbane and will count towards the ICC Women’s Championship standings.

Bangladesh currently occupy eighth place in the championship table and will be aiming to strengthen their position against one of the strongest sides in women’s cricket.

The team is scheduled to depart for Australia on October 3 before beginning the three-match series.

    ODI Schedule

    • October 9 – 1st ODI, Allan Border Field, Brisbane
    • October 11 – 2nd ODI, Allan Border Field, Brisbane
    • October 14 – 3rd ODI, Allan Border Field, Brisbane

With a settled core, the return of experienced players and the inclusion of exciting young talent, Bangladesh will hope to produce a competitive performance against Australia in what promises to be a demanding away series.
